Jenoptik Optical Systems Delivers Precision Results

Jenoptik Optical Systems uses QED Technology systems in various processes to deliver precision results.  Recently many of these projects have included IR materials.

Silicon
One of our recent MWIR lens designs requires a silicon front element that is 190mm in diameter. The bi-convex spherical design called for surfaces with an irregularity of ≤ 0.75 fr PV at 633nm and a surface micro roughness of <10 angstroms. The QED SSI-A® metrology and QED MRF® Q22-X polishing systems enabled the fast and accurate manufacturing of these large optical components within the technical requirements:

Manufacturing Results:

Irregularity S1: 0.466 PV/ 0.046 RMS          Surface Micro roughness S1: 6.7 Å

Irregularity S2: 0.376 PV/ 0.044 RMS          Surface Micro roughness S2: 4.1 Å

Chalcogenide materials

Jenoptik has also successfully processed chalcogenide materials using MRF polishing including IG4 and IG6 with surface micro roughness in the range of 25Å.

Special Metrology
A recent visible design required a slow convex surface on a 150mm diameter lens. The spherical radius was nearly 6,000 mm.  Measurement first required fabrication of a custom diverger lens and calibration with the SSI-A® (with the support of QED).   Jenoptik was able to verify for our aerospace customer, the accuracy of the measurement and deliver the precision lens that application required.

For another project, Jenoptik utilized the QED Technologies systems to deliver matched optics of very weak radius lenses.

The MRF® / SSI-A® combination has also been used to fabricate corrector plates with system correction based on initial system metrology.
